CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Brighthouse Financial Inc. (BHF) on Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $1.44 billion.
On a per-share basis, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had net income of $12.14. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.56 per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.74 per share.
The annuity and life insurance company posted revenue of $4.03 billion in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $865 million, or $7.21 per share. Revenue was reported as $8.97 billion.
Brighthouse Financial shares have climbed 17 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 37 percent in the last 12 months.
