NORTHBROOK, Ill. (AP) _ Allstate Corp. (ALL) on Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings of $666 million.
The Northbrook, Illinois-based company said it had net income of $1.74 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.60 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 88 cents per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $9.66 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $9.56 billion, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.45 billion.
Allstate shares have increased 27 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 15 percent. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $94.25, an increase of 40 percent in the last 12 months.
