TORONTO (AP) _ Manulife Financial Corp. (MFC) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $933.2 million.
The Toronto-based company said it had profit of 45 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 42 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.
The financial services company posted revenue of $12.34 billion in the period.
Manulife shares have increased 13 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $20.18, a rise of 52 percent in the last 12 months.
