On a per-share basis, the Kansas City, Missouri-based company said it had profit of 58 cents.
The insurance company posted revenue of $111.7 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $22.3 million, or $2.30 per share. Revenue was reported as $445 million.
Kansas City Life shares have fallen 3 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 17 percent in the last 12 months.
